The credit notes

The credit notes are the present that the counselors give to the people who speak in English.

The give the credit notes after the breakfast, the dinner, and the lunch. You can win one if you win a game to a counselor. But this have rules: you can’t ask for them and you have to speak all the time in English. If you speak in Spanish, the counselors could take one of your credit notes. Finally, you can use all the credit notes you win to buy things in a candy shop. They are incredible! And the only thing that you have to do is speak in English!

Games

We played a lot of games. Some of them were:

Splat: We make a circle, then, one person stands in the middle and points at the others. He/she shoots shouting, “SPLAT!” The person has to duck. The two people who are next to him/her, have to shoot each other. The one who shoots first wins, the other, has to duck and loses. When there are only two people, they have to count to three and shoot. The one who shoots first wins.

British Bulldog: There is one person who stands in front of the ones who have to run. He/she shouts, “British Bulldog, 1, 2, 3!” All the others have to run to the other side. The British Bulldog has to catch them. The one who wins is the one that the British Bulldog couldn’t catch.

The Place

It had a very big park. In the park, there were lots of plants. The bedrooms were for 2 or 3 people. The walls were violet and was very big. The bathroom was yellow and had a comfortable bath. In the rooms were big and large wardrobes, where you could put your clothes! In the dining room, there were big tables with comfortable chairs.

In the park, we played games like British Bulldog, Capture the Flag, Splat, and Kickball!!! The games were fun. If we spoke a lot of English, the counselors gave us a credit note! But if we speak Spanish they took our credit note.

Thanks!

The Teams!

In our camp, the teams were separated in 7 teams with 7 counselors:

Red Team, counselor: Tim!

Green Team, counselor: Kevin!

Blue Team, counselor: Kris!

Orange Team, counselor: Katie!

Yellow Team, counselor: Cliodhna!

White Team, counselor: Louise!

Pink Team, counselor: Joanna!!!

All the teams did different activities. We played a lot of games! Sometimes the teams played together, other times we played alone. The teams were chosen by Miss Myriam, the headmistress of our school (Saint Brigid’s School). The teachers of 6th form (Miss Marcela, Miss Patricia and Miss Andrea), and the person that controls our attitudes (Patricio). I was in the Pink team, with Joanna and friends! I love my team! And my favourite color is pink! Oh! I forgot something, all the kids had a card that said our names, the colour of our team and a photo of a pirate because the camp was about pirates! Arrrrrg! Thanks for reading!

Villa Marista

The place is beautiful, it has a lot of bedrooms. The bedrooms have two or three beds and have a bathroom with a shower and a mirror. Then there is a wardrobe too! Then downstairs you have a lot of space to play a lot of games. The place was big with a lot of plants. We play Splat, British Bulldog, Capture the Flag, Kickball, Baseball, and Pirate Ship.

Of course, it has a dining room, where we eat a lot of delicious food. The food is like the traditional food from the countries of the counselors. In the rooms all the girls play and talk. We didn’t choose the groups of people of the group, but all the girls were happy.

The Counsellors

The Counselors

Every child was divided into groups. There were seven teams. We were divided by colours and each one had a counselor.

Blue: Kris

Green: Kevin

Red: Tim

Pink: Joanna

Yellow: Cliodhna

White: Louise

Most of the counselors were from Ireland, England, or the United States. They did a lot of games that were fun. They gave us some papers that were credit notes. If you talked English all the time they will give you a credit note and if you speak Spanish they will take one. You have to have more and more because at the end you can buy something.

The Bedrooms

The bedrooms are very comfortable and they are big. They are of two beds or more. The bathrooms are of different colors, the curtains of the bathrooms are of butterflies, and the floor of the rooms have carpet or wood except for the bathrooms that aren’t of carpet and wood. In the middle when you go up the stairs, there is a big meeting room. The meeting room has about 5 sofas, a table, a mirror, and some pictures. All the rooms have a number on the door and they are all connected by a corridor.

The things we do in the camp

In the camp we do a lot of things. We play with the counselors ad our friends. We play games, sing songs, eat traditional foods of other countries, make flags, act in plays, wear costumes, etc. We play a lot of fun and different games, like Capture the Flag, Splat, Kickball, British Bulldog, Pirate Ship, and others.

We sing songs with the counselors, like “A Pirate’s Life for Me” and “Drunken Sailor”.

We also act in plays. Each group makes a funny play to show it to the teachers, the counselors, and our friends. We also make flags for each group (red, orange, white, yellow, blue, green, and pink).

Thoughts and things we do in the camp

1st day in the camp:

When we arrived at the hotel we were amazed. We were in Mar del Plata!

First, we went to our rooms and then we had lunch. The food was delicious. I like the counselors. They were very friendly. In the evening we have lots of fun and games like British Bulldog, Splat, Capture the Flag, Kickball, and more.

At night we went to have dinner at another place. Then we had a fire and came back to the hotel. We drank hot chocolate and ate cakes. Finally, we went to our rooms and we went to bed.

2nd day in the camp:

We do the same things in the camp.

And we have a party dressed up like pirates.

3rd day in the camp:

I think we will have breakfast and lunch and then we come back to Buenos Aires.

Teams

We all made teams of different colours: red, blue, orange, yellow, cream, green, and pink. The teacher’s name of the teams were:

Red: Tim

Blue: Kris

Orange: Katie

Cream: Louise

Green: Kevin

Pink: Joanna

Yellow: Cliodhna

Most of them were from the United States or Ireland. They were very kind and some of them very funny.

We also made beautiful flags with a lot of paintings. All the flags had their meaning of their team’s name. For example:

-Greedy Privateers – it means they love money and always want more.

And, of course, we all went together to play a lot of games. Sometimes we won or sometimes we lose, but it was always very fun.
